Using SCORM packages

Argo modules as Sharable Content Objects in third party LMSes

Contents

Introduction

When your license allows it, you can use the Argo modules in another, SCORM compliant LMS. Currently SCORM version 1.2 and 2004 are supported.

Argo modules can be used as Sharable Content Objects. The SCORM content is hosted on your Argo site. If the LMS is on an intranet, you still need an Internet connection to access the content.

To enable SCORM support, the Argo site administrator should make the right settings. See the section Administrator settings.

Argo teachers can download SCORM packages as PIF files and use them in the third party LMS. See the section Creating and downloading PIF files.

You cannot create student accounts for your Argo site when you use SCORM. Student administration is done in the third party LMS.

Currenctly you cannot use third party SCORM packages in Argo.

Administrator settings

To enable SCORM, the Argo administrator should:
  • Select the desired SCORM version (1.2 or 2004);
  • Specify the domain name of the third party LMS server;
  • Upload an Adobe cross-domain policy file to the LMS server.
If the third party LMS is hosted on a secure (HTTPS) site, your Argo site should be secure too, to prevent security warnings.

For more information see the Argo Administrator's Manual.

Creating and downloading PIF files

On the Argo site, teachers can:
  • Download SCORM resource packages for modules;
  • Create courses and arrange the modules;
  • Download SCORM content aggregation packages for courses.
All content is packaged as a PIF (Package Interchange Format) file. For more information see the Argo Teacher's Manual.
