6. DIY tool
In this section you will learn the following:

- Upload files and videos
- Upload a web address
6.1 The basics
To use the DIY tool, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Click on the folder in which you want to add your own DIY module.
- To create your own DIY module, click on the ‘+’ under ‘Modules’.
- Select the type of module you want to create. This can either be a lesson, test, task, simulator, file, link or copy of a DIY module. You cannot change the type of module later on.
- Add a title to your new module. If desired, you can also add a description of the module and choose a level (Entry, Basic, Advanced or Specialist). If you only want to share some files or links with your colleagues, you can check the checkbox next to ‘For teachers only’, so it will not be visible for students.
- Click on ‘add’ to start building your own DIY module.
- You can change the picture of the module by clicking on the square with ‘200×200’ in it and uploading your own image.
- Click on ‘Edit module’ to proceed. A blank screen will appear.
- The tools on the left side of your screen will only change the image part of the module. The tools on the right side of your screen have influence on your copy and question. Use the tools to create your module.
- Save the module by clicking on the floppy icon on the top lift side of your screen and click on the arrow in the top right corner to go back.
- Don’t forget to click on ‘Publish copy’ to make your module available.
The available tools:
- Floppy: Save your progress
- Building block: Select an animation or image from another lesson
- Image: Upload or select an image
- Clapboard: Select a webpage or an online video
- X-icon: Remove the image
- Arrow: Go back and leave the module editor
- ?-icon: Go to the interactive manual
- +-icon: Add a page
- Square: Select a page
- Scissors: Cut
- Files: Copy
- Clipboard: Paste
- Cross: Delelte
- B: Font in bold
- I: Font in italic
- U: Underline the font
- x2: Add superscript
- x2: Add subscript
- Bullet points: Add a bullet list
- Numbers: Add a numbered list
- Lines right: Indent the copy
- Lines left: Outdent the copy
- Arrow left: Undo your last move
- Arrow right: Redo your last move
- +-icon: Add a question
- Square: Select a question
- Wrench: Change question properties
6.2 Upload a video
To upload a video, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Click on the folder in which you want to add your own DIY module with a video.
- To create your own DIY module, click on the ‘+’ under ‘Modules’.
- Next to ‘Type’, select link (option 1) if you have a URL for a YouTube video for example. Select video (option 2) if you want to upload a video from your computer.
- Add a title to your new module. If desired, you can also add a description of the module and choose a level (Entry, Basic, Advanced or Specialist). If you only want to share some files or links with your colleagues, you can check the checkbox next to ‘For teachers only’, so it will not be visible for students.
- For option 1, paste the URL of the video you want to upload. Check ‘In new window’ if you want a new window with the video to open. For option 2, upload the video of maximum 200 MB.
- Click on ‘add’ to upload the video.
6.3 Upload a file
To upload a file, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Click on the folder in which you want to add your own DIY module with a file.
- To create your own DIY module, click on the ‘+’ under ‘Modules’.
- Next to ‘Type’, select file.
- Add a title to your new module. If desired, you can also add a description of the module and choose a level (Entry, Basic, Advanced or Specialist). If you only want to share some files or links with your colleagues, you can check the checkbox next to ‘For teachers only’, so it will not be visible for students.
- Upload the file of maximum 25 MB.
- Click on ‘add’ to upload the file.
6.4 Upload a web address
To upload a web address, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Click on the folder in which you want to add your own DIY module with a web address.
- To create your own DIY module, click on the ‘+’ under ‘Modules’.
- Next to ‘Type’, select link.
- Add a title to your new module. If desired, you can also add a description of the module and choose a level (Entry, Basic, Advanced or Specialist). If you only want to share some files or links with your colleagues, you can check the checkbox next to ‘For teachers only’, so it will not be visible for students.
- Paste the URL of the video you want to upload. Check ‘In new window’ if you want a new window with the video to open.
- Click on ‘add’ to upload the web address.
