Electude Joins WorldSkills 2024

10 September 2024, Nuenen, the Netherlands — Electude is proud to announce its renewed participation as a supplier for the 47th WorldSkills Competition held in Lyon, France, between 10 to 15 September 2024. WorldSkills is a worldwide program that aims to inspire young people to develop a passion for skills through competition. Electude has been involved in WorldSkills competitions worldwide since 2014, by providing testing software, judging, and exhibition support from regional competitions in the US to competitions on a national scale in the UK, US, Spain, and South America, and recently also at the international level.

For almost a week, young professionals under the age of 23, all of them national champions in six different skills sectors – Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Services, and Transportation and Logistics – are competing to become world winners in their fields.

This year, Electude joins one of the six skill sectors, namely Transportation and Logistics – Automobile Technology, by offering three training-customised plug-in hybrid electrical vehicles for diagnosing preassigned electrical problems, as requested during the competition.

A total of 35 participants representing countries from all over the globe compete in the Automobile Technology category for the world title of Best Automotive Technician. Maintaining modern vehicles is a highly skilled occupation that requires a thorough understanding and knowledge. Automobile technicians must be able to work quickly and efficiently without compromising the high standards expected by employers and customers. They must also keep up with technological advances as modern vehicles become increasingly complex.

As Grant Petch, Skills Competition Manager for Automobile Technologies shared:
“As SCM, I chose to use Electude as a sponsor for the WorldSkills International competitions because they bring many advantages to the competition. Electude, for me, can develop and build realistic faults in the latest technology for light vehicles. The faults that Electude develops are current to what the industry is experiencing now. This enables the competition to assess the skill sets needed to diagnose current Body Electrical and e-mobility vehicles.

From a competition standpoint, the ability to reset the vehicle for the next competitor in a short time is important. With Electude’s vehicles and equipment, this can be done in minutes. This is Electude’s second international competition, and both times they have brought a new level of technology and assessment to the competition.”

Alexander Amiri, Director of Sponsorship and Partnership of WorldSkills International, also praised Electude for its contribution: “Showcasing that skilled young people are essential to creating a sustainable world is an important part of WorldSkills Competitions. We are proud to partner with Electude, who provided electronic vehicles for WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and offered training and support to our Competitors. Their innovation in education and hands-on learning transfers seamlessly into our competition setting.”

The newly added training vehicle, part of the Electude Connect portfolio, was officially launched during the WorldSkills competition and is available for the market as of September 2024. All the Electude training vehicles are fully converted into safe and education-purposed material. They typically come accompanied by:

  • Elevated high voltage battery, which gives the student full insights into the high voltage battery components
  • A break-out box in the front with current limited sockets gives the students the possibility to measure safely on the high voltage system
  • A break-out box in the back for in-depth exercises to reveal the secrets of a high-voltage battery
  • 22 simulated failures on specific e-mobility systems to educate students in becoming experts in troubleshooting a plug-in hybrid electrical vehicle
  • Digital assignments, tasks and guided diagnosis modules with student tracking through our LMS
