About Berufsschule Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen
Located in Bavaria, the school Staatliche Berufsschule Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen offers a range of technical programmes, including Electrical Engineering, Metal Technology, and Automotive Engineering.
The Automotive Department at Wolfratshausen provides apprenticeship programmes in the dual-education system, combining in-class and on-the-job training. With five teachers, the apprenticeships aim to equip students from grades 10 to 12 with industry-relevant skills.

Challenges
Complex topics and lack of resources
The automotive industry’s technical demands require students to master complex concepts and develop hands-on skills to be job-ready. Many topics require visual aids to be easily comprehended, but high-quality resources are not easily found.
As for hands-on training, the school would benefit from more hardware but currently does not have the budget to acquire it.
Diverse learning levels and engagement
Students at Berufsschule Wolfratshausen come from varying backgrounds, making it challenging to deliver a standardized curriculum that effectively addresses individual learning needs. In addition, it is difficult to keep all students engaged and motivated.
Low industry involvement
Before adopting Electude, companies showed limited interest in the school’s activities due to a lack of visibility into student progress, creating a disconnect between the school’s curriculum and industry practices.
Solutions
Since October 2019, Berufsschule Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen has been using Electude’s e-learning platform to enhance its automotive education program, which currently has 150 students. Following a successful three-year pilot, the school decided to adopt Electude as a permanent solution.
Electude’s e-learning
Electude’s e-learning solution helps students grasp complex subjects, develop hands-on skills, progress at their own pace, receive targeted support, and easily apply what they have learned to their workplace.
- Students can understand complex automotive subjects with the help of images and animations.
- Students can experiment and practice with simulations.
- Students can progress at their own speed using the e-learning platform.
- Teachers and companies can track individual performance and give support to slower learners.
- Companies are aware of what students are learning and how they can apply it in the workshop.
Visual aids and simulations
Electude’s platform supports students with visual learning tools like images and animations that simplify complex automotive topics, making them more accessible and engaging. In addition, the students can practice and experiment with simulators, such as Electude’s Engine Simulator.
With Electude, students go beyond just reading about automotive systems—they really get to engage with the material.

Results
By using Electude’s learning solutions, Berufsschule Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen has seen an increase in student engagement, pass rates, targeted support, and industry involvement, as showcased below.
Enhanced student engagement and learning
Since integrating Electude, Jochen Böhm has observed an increase in pass rates, indicating that students are better prepared for exams and hands-on assessments. The teacher also reports improvements in student engagement both in and outside the school.
A survey Jochen Böhm conducted in his class showed that:
- 65% of students use Electude for at least one hour outside of class time.
- More than 28% of learners interact with Electude’s e-learning for over two hours when not in class.
The survey also revealed that 96% of the learners consider the modules clear, helpful, and well-prepared.

The fact that so many of my students choose to use Electude outside of school shows how much they value it for their own learning.

Better student support
Teachers report that Electude’s tools allow them to track individual progress and provide targeted support, streamlining teaching complex subjects to students with different learning backgrounds.
According to Jochen Böhm, “Electude’s animations and short, simple texts help the comprehension of difficult topics for students at different levels. Plus, the text-to-speech resource helps refugees learn German.”
Increased industry involvement
Electude’s e-learning helped to build a better connection between the school and the companies where students are apprentices. With Electude’s platform, it is easier to check what students are learning and how this knowledge can be applied in the workshop.
Electude creates more visibility for what the school is teaching and how what they learn is important. Companies can now see the direct connection between what the students are learning and applying.
