4. Grading and certification
In this section you will learn the following:
- Group results
- Individual results
- Module filter
- Export results and settings

4.1 Module filter
To add a module filter, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Settings’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Module filter’.
- The ‘Visibility of modules’ can either be set to ‘Show all modules’ or ‘Define filter, only show selected types’. Select the latter (‘Define filter, only show selected types’).
- Next to ‘Types’, check all fields you do want to see, and uncheck all fields you do not want to be visible.
- Click on ‘OK’ to save the changes in the settings.
- In the top right corner of your screen, next to the question mark ‘?’ icon, the filter icon will be shown.
- Click on the module filter icon to only see the results you want.
4.2 Export results and settings
To export results of a group, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All groups or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the group you want to export results from and click on the
- Under ‘Courses’, select the course you want to export the results from by clicking on its title. The average group results will first be shown.
- To export the results, click on the arrow going in the box icon at the bottom of the page. A .CSV file will be downloaded with this student’s result.
To export results of a single student, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All groups or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the group you want to export results from and click on the
- Under ‘Courses’, select the course you want to export the results from by clicking on its title. The average group results will first be shown.
- Scroll down and click on the name of the student to see the individual results.
- To export the results, click on the arrow going in the box icon at the bottom of the page. A .CSV file will be downloaded with this student’s result. CSV files can be opened in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or Open Office.
To change the settings of your results export, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Settings’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Import & export’.
- ‘Export empty results’ can either be set to ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. ‘Yes’ means results of students who did not complete a module will also be exported with empty fields. ‘No’ means those fields will be skipped and only the results of modules which a student has started or finished will be exported.
- Next to ‘Fields for export of results’, check all fields you do want to export, and uncheck all fields you do not want to see in your export.
- Click on ‘OK’ to save the changes in the settings.
Quick tip: If you hover over the progress bar with your mouse, you can see the results very fast without needing to click on anything. This works for both individual results and group results.
4.3 Task sheet grading
Task sheets are not being grated automatically. Teachers need to grade these themselves. Therefore, the score bar will be grey and not the usual combination of green and red.
To grade the task sheet of a student, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All groups or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the group you want to grade the task sheets from.
- Under ‘Courses’, select the task you want to grade.
- Under ‘Modules’, click on the results you want to grade.
- Navigate to the name of the student you want to grade the task sheet for.
- Click on ‘Review module’ to view what the student has written down. You can also provide some optional feedback.
- Select the pencil icon to grade the task sheet.
- You can grade the task b selecting the right percentage that reflects the score of this student. A 100% score means the student was perfect, a 0% score means the student failed and did not get the task at all.
Tip: If you do not need to review the students’ module because you were, for example, in the lab with your students while they worked on the task, you can score the task sheets more efficiently. To grade all task sheets of a group at once, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All groups or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the group you want to grade the task sheets from.
- Under ‘Courses’, select the task you want to grade.
- Under ‘Modules’, click on the results you want to grade.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Under ‘NEW ASSESSMENT’ you can grade the task sheets by selecting a quick assessment. You can choose from ‘4 – Skilled’, ‘3 – Adequate’, ‘2 – Limited’, and ‘1 – Exposure only’.
4.4 Grant a certificate
To grant a certificate to a student, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All students’ or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the student you want to grant a certificate to and click on the name.
- At the top of the page, under ‘Graded and Certificates’ you will see the certificates of the courses this student has taken.
- Click on the title of the course you want to grand a certificate for.
- Click on the certificate icon, to grant the certificate.
- Fill in the date of completion. Additionally, you can also fill in the name of the city and some remarks.
- Click on ‘add’ to grand this student the certificate.
To grant a partial certificate to a student, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Students’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘All groups’ or click on ‘Search’.
- Look for the group you want to grant a certificate to and click on the name.
- Select the course you want to grant a partial certificate for.
- Click on the name of the student you want to grant this partial certificate to.
- Scroll down until you see ‘Grades for the partial certificate [course name]’. Click on the certificate icon, to grant the certificate.
- Fill in the date of completion. Additionally, you can also fill in the name of the city and some remarks.
- Click on ‘add’ to grand this student the partial certificate.
