The “Classroom Effect”: Driving Unprecedented ASE Success at CTECS

The latest data from the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) has revealed a powerful new catalyst for student achievement: the Classroom Effect. Following the system-wide transition from Electude Essentials to the more robust Classroom product in Fall 2024, the CTECS Automotive program has seen a transformative spike in both engagement and certification outcomes. Electude serves as a supplemental instructional resource, helping CTECS instructors reinforce technical concepts alongside the hands-on, instructor-led learning that is central to CTECS automotive program.

About CTECS

The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) is a statewide system of 17 diploma-granting technical high schools and one technical education center, serving approximately 11,000 high school students. CTECS offers a rigorous blend of academic and career technical education, preparing students for both college and high-demand careers.

In the Automotive Technology program, students receive hands-on training in modern, industry-aligned facilities. Through Career Technical Education pathways, Work-Based Learning, and partnerships with regional employers, students gain real-world experience and certifications that prepare them for immediate employment or further education in the motor vehicle industry.

A Record-Breaking Year for Engagement

After one full school year utilizing the Electude Classroom product, the results for the Fall 2025 testing cycle show a program in high gear:

  • 47% Surge in Usage: Total module completion across all 18 CTECS campuses skyrocketed by 47.21% compared to the 2023 – 2024 school year.

Active Learning: This increase represents thousands of additional hours automotive students spent engaging with interactive simulations and discovery-based modules.

From Engagement to Achievement

The “Classroom Effect” isn’t just about higher usage numbers; it’s about the measurable impact on student achievement. As usage spiked, student ASE test pass rates followed an aggressive upward trajectory:

  • Double-Digit Growth: The program-wide ASE pass rate climbed from 43% to 54%, representing an 11% jump in a single year for the four ASE subjects tracked.

Predictable Success: Current data continues to support that every 100 modules a student completes is associated with a +9 percentage point increase in their likelihood of passing their ASE exam.

Why “Classroom” Makes the Difference

Internal Electude data suggests that the transition from Essentials to Classroom streamlines the integration of Electude into daily instruction. By providing teachers with more seamless ways to bridge classroom theory with shop floor practice, Classroom empowers students to reach mastery faster.

The transition to Classroom provides instructors with the tools to better manage discovery-based learning, which is tailored to the hands-on mentality of automotive students.

The Road Ahead

The 2025 results demonstrate that when educators have the right tools to drive engagement, student success is predictable. By leveraging the Classroom Effect, CTECS has effectively raised the standard for automotive excellence across the state, ensuring more students than ever graduate with industry-recognized credentials.

CTECS has built a strong foundation through thoughtful curriculum planning and a commitment to student achievement. Now, in collaboration with Electude’s customer success team, CTECS is working to increase usage across all schools. Together, the goal is to empower more learners to succeed on ASE exams and thrive in the automotive workforce.
