Electude and CCAR announce Hybrid Electric and Battery Electric Vehicle Instructor Safety Certification

February 8, 2023 | Braintree, Massachusetts

CCAR, The Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair, and Electude North America are pleased to announce a special product offering for automotive teachers, Hybrid Electric and Battery Electric Vehicle Instructor Safety Certification. Many instructors have expressed an interest in the availability of courses to refresh or be introduced to hybrid and electric drive technology. Additionally, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) recently announced an expansion of their involvement in electric drive, with an initial focus on a high-voltage safety standard.

Only available to instructors teaching automotive technology courses, these online learning modules offer instruction, assessment and certification of completion. The components include:

  • Electude’s Electric Drive Course: 98 modules covering the basics of high voltage safety, charging, DC-AC converters, HV batteries, inverters, induction and synchronous motors. Also includes complete understanding and diagnosing of vehicle components.
  • CCAR’s Battery and Safety Module: Includes coverage of personal protective equipment, damaged batteries, thermal runaway and submerged vehicles for hybrid and battery electric vehicles
  • Assessment: Testing to determine retention of both the Electude course and the CCAR module.
  • Certificate of Completion: Issued by CCAR for successful completion of course and passage of assessment.

Available for just $29.99 to any instructor, all proceeds will be used to fund the second annual CCAR-Electude Instructor of the Year award, to be presented at the ASE Board of Governor’s event in November. Electude is dedicated to furthering the success of instructions through these focused initiatives to support our customers.

Charlie Ayers, President of CCAR, said, “CCAR has had the best interest of automotive instructors and students in mind since its inception. We are pleased to offer both these learning modules and the annual ASE award with our partner Electude.” Vern Anthony, Marketing Director for Electude North America, shared, “Our partnership with CCAR has allowed us to expand beyond our core Electude products and broaden the service we can offer our customers. We are confident this course will benefit many instructors getting ready to teach electric drive.”
