5. Electude Simulator
In this section you will learn the following:
- Finding the Electude Simulator
- Different levels of faults
- Diagnostic tools
- Creating your own faults
Watch the webinar ‘Electude Simulator’ that covers all of the above.
5.1 Finding the Electude Simulator
To find the Electude Simulator, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Navigate to the ‘Electude Simulator’ folder and click on it. Under ‘Folders’ you will see the predefined faults divided into three different levels (Basic, Advanced, Specialist). Under ‘Modules’ you will find ‘Electude Simulator – Engine Management’. This means there are no faults, making it perfect for students to practice without getting a score.
Note: To use the Simulator in your class, it is recommended to use a student account for teaching. A teacher account has the title of the fault on the screen, giving away what the fault is about. This is not the case within a student account.
5.2 Different levels of faults
The Electude Simulator contains three different level of faults: Basic, Advanced and Specialist.
- Basics: These are the easiest faults for students to solve. They also contain a work order; it’s more detailed and gives away the steps the students need to take in order to solve the fault.
- Advanced: Advanced faults still have a work order, however, these contain less description. Students also have less diagnostics tools available.
- Specialist: These are the hardest faults for students to solve. Students only have a minimum number of diagnostic tools available.
5.3 Diagnostic tools
To find the diagnostic tools, hover over the tools tab at the left side of your screen. To use one of the tools, you need to click on the name of it. To remove the tool from the screen, you need to click on the name again.
5.4 Creating your own faults
To create your own Electude Simulator faults, take the following steps:
- Click on the ‘Modules’ tab in the LMS.
- In the left menu, navigate to ‘Default (by subject)’. This folder will expand, and modules will appear under this button.
- Navigate to the ‘Electude Simulator’ folder and click on it.
- Click on the ‘+’ under ‘Modules’ to create your own Electude Simulator fault.
- Next to ‘type’, choose simulation.
- Add a title. Additionally, you can also add a description and/or level (Advanced, Basics, Specialist).
- Click on ‘add’ to create your own Electude Simulator fault.
- A new screen will show with ELECTUDE SIMULATOR SETTINGS. You can choose your faults, type a work order, and check the available tools for students to use.
- Click on ‘OK’ to create your own Electude Simulator fault.
